A Sonic RPG for the DS!

Sega announced today that a Sonic RPG is in the works for the DS. The game is being developed by the Canadian-based company BioWare.

BioWare is known for RPGs such as Baldur's Gate and the Neverwinter Nights series. I'm not sure that the Sonic universe would translate into an American-style RPG like the previously mentioned.

Personally I'm very excited about the prospect of a Sonic RPG, especially for the DS, but I'm a bit worried about the developer. I'll be following this story very closely.

Contra 4 to hit DS!

Contra 4 will be hitting the DS! The new game will take place two years after the last game, Contra III: The Alien Wars. The game will span across both screens, giving players a much larger vertical range – although the character will still cross levels horizontally.

I'm pretty excited about this one. Up up down down left right left right B A Start baby!

Ratchet & Clank on PS3

I'm a huge fan of the Ratchet & Clank series. The first two games, especially - although the last one left a bit to be desired. The series seemed to move more towards action and away from platforming, questing, and mini games.

The Jak (& Daxter) series had been doing the same thing lately - although I personally feel it was a change for the better. The first game, while tons of fun, was a bit too cartoony and cheesy, but to throw the characters of the first game into the dark and threatening worlds of the latter was amazing.

Some people have disagreed with me, however, and with Ratchet & Clank coming out on the PS3 there's even more to talk about.

What do you think of the debate?

Ninja Gaiden For Wii?

Yosuke Hayashi, producer of Team Ninja, said that the company might create a Ninja Gaiden title for the Wii that utilizes Wiimote functions.

I've never been a huge fan of the Ninja Gaiden series, but that's not to say I don't recognize the quality - and there's a huge following. If this goes through it could be big news for Wii owners.

White takes on Castlevania

The director of Stomp the Yard and I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, Sylvain White, is the new director for the upcoming movie Castlevania based on Konami's games of the same name.

Now, I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty excited that a director great enough to work on Stomp the Yard will be taking on one of the best series of all time. I think the only way we could do any better would be to go with Eli Roth.

But anyway, Sylvain White had the following to say about why he took on the job. "Most of the vampire films have been present or set in the future, from 'Blade' to 'Underworld,' and I was attracted by the chance to make a dark, epic period movie that almost has an anime feel to it."

The script apparently revolves around a Transylvanian knight leading his troups into a castle to seek refuge, and discovering that it is inhabited by the original vampire. Some from the Belmont family is apparently supposed to play a part as well - could this be the Trasylvanian knight?

Anyway, I'm disappointed in the choice of director, but there is still a bit of hope for the movie. We'll have to wait and see. Keep checking back for more news.

Chocobo's Dungeon for Wii Trailer

And Chocobo's Dungeon for the Wii looks incredibly cute. I mean, look at him swinging and drinking stuff! Absolutely adorable. The game looks like it could be a lot of fun, too.

Deathnote DS trailer

I've been wondering how a Death Note game would play out on the DS. This trailer doesn't show a lot of gameplay, but it's obvious that the game will be very strategy based. If this one gets brought to the US it could be very interesting.
